Every student at Federal University Otuoke can read the news, list something for sale, find a hostel or ask a question here without paying a naira. That is deliberate, and it is the whole point.
Adverts and digital services cover most of what it costs to run. Donations cover the rest — and on the months they do not, the difference comes out of the pockets of the students building it.
The site, the images and every listing on it sit on servers that bill monthly whether anybody donates or not.
Reporters covering an event on campus are paying for their own data to file it. That should not be true.
Students write the news, moderate the forum and check every listing. The aim is to pay them properly.
FUO Connects is a student-run platform, not a registered charity, so a donation is not tax-deductible and comes with nothing in return but our thanks. If you would rather your money bought something specific — an advert, a promoted listing, a piece of design work — those are on the advertise and services pages instead.
